One in five mothers will experience perinatal or postpartum depression and anxiety in their lifetime. Palo Verde Behavioral Health is proud to offer multiple mental health services to mothers, including the Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), individual therapy, and medication management.
The Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on helping mothers develop coping skills, gain confidence in their parenting abilities, and understand the changes that come with pregnancy and becoming a parent. The Perinatal IOP also dedicates time to partners, family, and friends so they understand postpartum depression and anxiety and learn ways to support mothers in recovery.
Topics in the Perinatal IOP include:
Childcare is included for Perinatal IOP mothers. Infants are encouraged to join in group to address questions regarding infant care and reduce disruptions in their feeding/sleeping routine. There is a dedicated feeding room and supplies, such as diapers and wipes, are available.
Individual Therapy is available for mothers wanting to address specific concerns not covered in the Perinatal IOP. The course of individual therapy will be determined by what goals mothers would like to achieve and process stressors that are better addressed in one-on-one settings.
Medication Management is sometimes needed to optimize recovery from perinatal or postpartum depression and anxiety. The use of medications is unique to each mother’s needs. Appointments with a Perinatal Psychiatrist are available to answer questions and address concerns about medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Our intake and admissions office provides no-cost assessment services 24/7. If you or someone you know is struggling and may be in need of treatment at Palo Verde Behavioral Health, don’t hesitate to call 520-322-2888 today.
