Mental Health Services for New Moms

One in five mothers will experience perinatal or postpartum depression and anxiety in their lifetime. Palo Verde Behavioral Health is proud to offer multiple mental health services to mothers, including the Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

The Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on helping mothers develop coping skills, gain confidence in their parenting abilities, and understand the changes that come with pregnancy and becoming a parent. The Perinatal IOP also dedicates time to partners, family, and friends so they understand postpartum depression and anxiety and learn ways to support mothers in recovery.

Topics in the Perinatal IOP include:

  • Understanding symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety
  • Coping skills
  • Addressing negative self-talk
  • Parenting skills
  • Relationship changes during and after pregnancy
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Ways to support mother and baby
  • Family budgeting
  • Baby Yoga
  • Resources available to mother and baby
